From 1987 to 1996 I lived in the Port of Veracruz for ten years. I enjoyed the traditional music played in the South of the state, called Son Jarocho. Being close to the group Mono Blanco (White Monkey), I began to photograph the fandangos that are celebrated in Tlacotalpan and other towns and cities. Soon my passion for this musical genre led me to its musicians, the dancers, the instruments, the luthiers, to the unique universe that exists there. This brief selection that I present is part of the vast archive of images that I have gathered in more than thirty years.
